About Me

Jimmy Nocon, aka James Jeffrey Nocon MD.

I am a retired obstetrician and gynecologist, world class rugby coach and general troublemaker. Once described as “arrogant, quick to judge and short on humility,” I replied that these were my finer points. I had the honor of serving as a Flight Surgeon to a F105 fighter group in the USAF during Vietnam. It was the best of my medical experiences.

What I Know If I Did Know

Grew up in Philly

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, 1946 and moved to Philly in 1948. Clara Barton, B and Wyoming, Central HS Class 220, La Salle, Jefferson Med., Jefferson Rugby.

Memories: Willie the Worm, soft pretzels, the Geetor, Norm van Brocklen, the Phillies slide, the Broad Street Bullies and Mummers.

The Wild Weasel

Capt. 177th TFG, NJANG; 17th Wild Weasels, 338th TFW; 119th FIG, NJANG.

On April 29, 2021, I survived the big one and won the lottery of life – blessed with a great cardiac surgeon and a 5 vessel bypass. I used to walk to medical school with the doctor who co-invented the bypass machine that saved my life. John Templeton MD.

Happily Retired

When not in our gardens, I watch fish in our marine reef and in our Koi pond. Before that, I exercise for an hour every day. My advice for getting old – stay mobile and never pass up an opportunity to pee. And it really is weird being the same age as old people.
